INTERNATIONAL PIRI REIS (OTTOMAN MAPMAKER) PROJECTS
The Project named “Piri Reis Projesi.” This Project was initiated by UNESCO announced the year of 2013 as the year of Ottoman Captain and Mapmaker Piri Reis by referring to the 500th anniversary of his famous World Map.
The main idea of the Piri Reis Project is to apply famous “Piri Reis Maps on
Ceramics.” Subsequently, created work will be displayed at exhibitions/receptions in Çanakkale-Turkey, Cersaie and Rome-Italy, Ankara-Turkey and Istanbul-Turkey (September-December 2013).
Before having these exhibitions, we are planning to gather some selected ceramic artists in KALE Ceramic Factory in Çan, Çanakkale in order to arrange a “15-days-workshop” (in September 2013) where they can work and produce. We would like to work with both Turkish and foreign artists (especially from countries which were displayed in Piri Reis Maps such as Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Egypt, North Africa, Algeria, Cyprus and also USA). At this stage, we are trying to make a list of the artists that are willing to attend such a workshop activity.
We would like to kindly ask if you are interested in attending our workshop which will be held in Çanakkale, Turkey in September 2013.

Final list of participants:
1) Charles Wissinger, USA
2) Elisabeth Le Retif, France
3) Ivo Sassi, Italy
4) Ossama Emam, Egypt
5) Xavier Monsalvatje Vich, Spain
6) Kostas Karakitsos, Greece

The Wissingers are rock stars AT TSTC!
The Wissingers are rock stars AT TSTC! That's for sure. It's a pure, simple fact. Students, faculty and administrators are raving. Everyone is excited. The art exhibit and the impression they made on TSTC is the absolute talk of campus. The cultural immersion almost makes this feel like a university!
